Holy unbelievable plots, Batman!

So...it's been a while, but that's what those dasterdly out-of-town guests and jobs can do to your free time! My only hope is that some unknown force will refrain from the need to get me.

It's futile, I suppose. Those bastards can always find you with their fancy internets! Technology, I curse thee!!! The aforementioned trouble is that technology has most likely already cursed us (and with 'no backs' to boot)!

Shall I present exhibits A and B? ...I'll take that as a yes, and on we go.

Exhibit A: The Net (1995)
Showtime: 9.04.08 _ 7:30 pm

Ahhh, the plight of the software engineer...poor creatures. They have enough problems as it is without the evil Pretorians chasing them all over town. I mean, Sandra Bullock couldn't even find a full length shirt to flee in! The lessons are clear, though: always click on that peculiar icon you never noticed before, and never attend a software conference.

As thrilling as this modern times tome may be, one can only wonder how evil white people will manipulate us with technology in the future...

Exhibit B: Demolition Man (1993)
Showtime: 9.05.08 _ 7:30 pm

Man oh man! Sandra Bullock must have really peeved off the interweb! I mean all of her wide-eyed policing in this flick came back to the future to bite her in The Net...

Anywho, at least future-Bullock has the ever-feisty Stallone to save her. I'm talkin' Sylvester, people. The mere presence of Frank Stallone would most certainly result in immanent doom. Point being, there is only one man that could rise from a cryogenic nappy time and single-handedly save L.A. powered by gourmet Taco Bell and armed with knitting needles. Now if he could only figure out those confounded seashells!

Also, in a 1993 world there is only one man that could challenge him: a black man. And there's only one black man sad enough to take the part of Simon 'rise from the goo-snooze' Phoenix: Wesley Snipes.

This is "Technology is gonna git ya" Night.

10 Things I Hate About You (1999) - Showtime 5:30P

She's the Man (2006) - Showtime 7:00P

So we are doing a whole Shakespeare retooled to appeal to today's youth night (AKA Shakespeare for dummies).

Taming of the Shrew? I don't get it. Oh, 10 things I hate about you... now I know that Shakespeare was writing about who's going to go the prom, the medieval prom that is (suggestive nodding).

Twelfth Night? I'm confused. Oh, the sweet mercy of Amanda Bynes' comedic timing. Now I see that Shakespeare was just telling a tale of cross dressing soccer players (or footballers as my friends across the pond might say). Genius!

Who needs cliffs notes when you can just watch these classic teen romantic comedies.

Reefer Madness

So I found out that Cheech and Chong are going on a comedy tour in the near future... in honor of this toke-tastic reunion we have selected two of the finest mary-jane inspired films from our movie closet.

Dude, Where's My Car (2001) - Showtime 8:30P
Jesse (Ashton Kutcher) and Chester (Sean Williiam Scott) wake one morning with no recollection of what happened the previous night, and one title worthy burning question "Dude, Where's My Car!" In their hilarious adventure they encounter super hot (Popsicle devouring) alien chicks, dangerous guard ostriches, latex clad transsexual strippers and the ever important cult leader Zoltan (Hal Sparks). And then.......and then....... and then....... NO AND THEN! Shibby!!

The Big Lebowski (1998) - Showtime 11:30p
What happens when one L.A. stoner is mistaken for a multimillionaire philanthropist who's wife owes some bad dudes big money.... I'll tell you, his rug gets peed on and it really tied the room together. Well, we are gonna pop the flick (while being carful with our beverages) and aspire to be Little Lebowski Urban achievers.

I hope we will be able to see the TV screen through all the purple haze. :)

Gotta Love that Mustache!

As a follow-up to day one... we've decided to watch Three Men and a Little Lady (1990).

If I thought Gutenberg's acting skill was enticing... well that's nothing compared to the Mustache.... ahem.... I mean Tom Selleck. In fact the magic of this film just caused Andria to exclaim "I want a fast motion movie montage!" And she now refuses to go to bed without a goodnight rap from Selleck, Guttenberg and Danson.

Earlier today we were discussing the first movie, and I suggested that they should remake it. And we were trying to come up with the actors to play 'the three men'. Here is Andria's pitch for a British remake:

Gerard Butler as the ruggedly handsome but dependable architect Peter (Tom Selleck), Colin Firth as the delightfully sweet Cartoonist Michael(Steve Guttenberg) and none other than Hugh Jackman as the charming lady killer/actor Jack (Ted Danson).

I'd see it! :) Although, I'm open to other suggestions.... any thoughts?

Day One.... It's all about Guttenberg!

Awwwh this is day one of our new blog.... or blarg as I like to call it.

I know what you are thinking.... what pray tell is Zucchini Pancake all about.... well we will be posting our various movie watching schedules and any interested parties can join in on the viewing. Or at the very least, send your favorite comments and tidbits.

So our inaugural posting has been designated Guttenberg day! It will be filled with a couple of our favorite Guttenberg movies.

Three Men and a Baby (1987) -- Showtime: 3:30p
Starring the great Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg (of course) and Ted Danson (before his hair turned Yetti White). Three totally awesome, high powered BFF's in NYC inherit a baby under odd circumstances. Heart warming hilarity ensues.

Don't Tell Her It's Me (1990) -- Showtime: 7:00p
So we have again Steve Guttenburg starring as a lonley cartoonist recently recovering from cancer. Shelly Long, his romance novelist sister, decides to give him a dude makeover and hook him up with the lovely Jamie Gertz. So with the help of a fake Australian accent, a totally 80's hairdo and a motorcycle... romantic hilarity ensues. :)
